What are cookies and how do they work?

As a website visitor you are always asked whether you want to accept cookies. But what exactly is a cookie? And how does it work?

What are cookies?

A cookie is a technical function which enables companies to analyse the behavior of website visitors anonymously and thereby classify them into different target groups. For example: when someone views trucks on TrucksNL, the cookie stores this.

What can you do with cookie data?

Using the cookie data, it can be determined whether someone falls within a certain target group and will be included in the cookie list. 1 cookie can actually be 1 potential buyer of a product. To make this potential buyer decide to buy the product you can use retargeting. With this you follow the potential buyer and try to reach him by advertising with a banner on websites he then looks at.

Use the cookie data from TrucksNL

For more than 25 years we have been collecting data from our website visitors that includes potential buyers. To make use of this information, you can purchase a list of ‘cookies’ or ‘potential buyers’ from us. To be able to use these cookies, you pay us an amount per cookie per month, this is called ‘the cookie license’. TrucksNL is the owner of this data.

The monthly fee depends on how many cookies you wish to use. You can then use these cookies through a retargeting campaign. Your potential buyers will now see your banner everywhere online!

Would you like to reach potential buyers through TrucksNL’s cookie data? You can! Our colleague Stephen ten Hoonte would be happy to tell your more about it. Give him a call (+ 31 (0) 6 10 39 34 34) our email him.
